Stay hydrated in the summer and make the most of infuse waters.

Hi There!

I can’t believe we are in May already. I’m not sure if you feel the same way that I do but this year is in speeding motion. Summer is already knocking at our doors and this will be my first summer in the heat of Texas. I grew up in Panama where the climate is normally hot all year around. So to beat the heat in Panama tropical fruits drinks are the way to go. Sometimes it is hard to stay hydrated and we choose the sugary drinks to satisfy our thirst but with these infused water options, you will not only hydrate and nourish yourself but you will also treat your taste buds.

So what is infused water and its benefits?

Infused water is a healthy beverage option made by mixing water with any fruit or herb of your choice and letting the flavors marry before drinking. Besides hydration infused water offers a few other benefits.

Infused water is a great source of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. When your flavor add-ins are released to the water you get not only an amazing taste but also a nutrient goodness boost. Another benefit from infused water is that it can boost your metabolism. A study published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism stated that drinking water (about 17oz) increases metabolic rate by 30 percent in healthy men and women. The boost occurred within 10 minutes but reached a maximum 30-40 minutes after drinking.

There is more! Another hidden benefit you will get from drinking water is better digestion. There is no need to be concerned that water will dilute the digestive juices or interfere with digestion. On the contrary, drinking water during or after a meal actually aids with digestion. Water and other liquids help break down food so that your body can absorb the nutrients more easily.

There are no rules for the flavor mixtures you can add and play with as many flavors you like.

Examples:

strawberry + basil + blackberries
strawberry + lemon +basil
kiwi + mint
raspberries + mint
grapefruit + rosemary
blueberry + Lavender
